Our Caledonia Chiropractor Dr. Callum Peever is proud to be Advanced Proficiency Rated in the Activator Methods Chiropractic Technique.
Why did Dr. Peever become trained in this technique?
Being the son of a Chiropractor he was exposed to very many different techniques. What always struck him was that many Chiropractors who grew up in the profession would use this Activator technique. When he got adjusted this way he was very impressed with the skill of the Chiropractor to directly and specifically identify the spot that needed adjusted. For that reason he learned this technique from day one at Chiropractic college in 2007 and has been focused on being the best at this technique for his patients.
Does Activator Chiropractic Work?
Yes! People always assume that this technique is new, but it is not. It has been around since the 1960’s and has become one of the most utilized Chiropractic Techniques used in the World! The biggest part of this popularity is the clinical success it achieves in our patients.
What does the Activator Assessment involve and why?
The assessment is based on the assumption that faulty or poor biomechanics of the joint articulations are reflected in changes in a patient’s leg-length while the person lies face down. Patients lie face down on a chiropractic table and perform a series of movements while the doctor observes the reaction of the spine at the level of the leg-lengths. If there is relative change in the leg-length due to the motion performed, the corresponding region of the spine or body is considered to be moving incorrectly or poorly. This guides the Chiropractor to feel / look for the problem at specific areas of the spine. Check out the Activator Methods Chiropractic Technique report from Dr. Fuhr in TOPICS IN CLINICAL CHIROPRACTIC/VOLUME 9, ISSUE 3, 2002 The hand held instrument that the doctor uses is called an Activator. It is designed to deliver a controlled, light, and fast thrust without undue strain or force to the patient. The thrust delivered by the instrument helps the body reduce spinal misalignment thus alleviating the irritation to the spinal nerves, and allows the body to work more efficiently and comfortably.
